No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Sandwich Oat Bars

Oats are amazing to satisfy your hunger while staying lean and healthy. They are very versatile ingredient to make a countless number of healthy snacks. Here I have made a recipe for No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Sandwich Oat Bar.

As the name says already, you won’t need to bake these protein bars. It’s an advantage over my other popular oat recipes such as Yogurt and Oat Protein Bars and Banana Oat Protein Cookies

You’ll also like how great the chocolate sandwich bars actually look. They look simple, and at the same time very attractive.

Protein and calories

These protein bars have about 13g of protein and 320 calories per serve. That’s the equivalent amount of protein in two medium eggs.

The protein powder is absolutely optional in this recipe. You’ll still get a good amount of protein from oats, peanut butter, and chia seeds.

Ingredient notes

Rolled oats

It’s the primary ingredients in this recipe. Since we are not baking these bars in the oven, it’s important to remember to roast them in a pan first. Roast them on a medium heat until they turn light brown in color.

Peanut butter

Use smooth peanut butter to make bars well defined. Peanut butter is high in protein and healthy fats which helps to keep you full for longer. Thank goodness for that.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil makes the protein bars soft and moist, which makes the bars easy to easy. It also provides the nutty flavour to the bars, making them even tastier.

Dark chocolate

Remember to use the dark chocolate and not any regular chocolate to keep the sugar content low. I have used 90% cocoa dark chocolate in this recipe. It’s the healthiest option but if you prefer a little bit sweeter, feel free to use 80% cocoa chocolate or even 70% one. I don’t recommend to go any lower than that.

Chia seeds

Chia seeds are high in protein and fiber. They also make the protein bars easy to chew and swallow. Thanks to the natural oil it contains. If you don’t have chia seeds, you can replace with sesame seeds.

Storage

It’s better to makes these bars in a large batch and store them to eat on the later days. Keep them in a closed container and put in the fridge. You can safely have them for 5 days.

They are best to have in the afternoon with a cup of tea or coffee to boost your energy for the day.
